One important step in the sales cycle is prospecting. Finding new potential clients and ways to reach them is a challenging at times and takes patience and creativity. A custom sales prospecting mailing kit, containing unique promotional products in a mailable package may just do the trick. In this blog post, we will explore one recent project.

The client is an international company that provides custom software engineering and consulting services to clients worldwide. Their latest marketing campaign involves reaching out to a list of companies in Austin, Texas. The goal was to bring awareness and engagement to these potential new clients so their sales staff can connect with via email or phone call later on.

Promotional Products Selection

The first step is to brainstorm with the client on possible categories of items they would like to include in the kit. They have already decided a brochure of their services will be included. As a software consulting business, their primary goal is to solve IT problems, so a game promotional item like puzzles or Rubik’s cubes were suggested. Furthermore, the client would like to include something fun as part of the kit. A snack item is very popular with business clients for meetings, conventions and sales kits since it appeals to people of all ages and demographics. Chocolate, candy, popcorn and treats were all great options. In the end, the client selected a branded magic cube, and a smores kit since summer camping season is approaching.

Pro tip: in warm weather season, a snack item containing chocolate will cost more to ship because of expedited shipping and added ice packs. Find out if there is an option to swap for another non-melting option. In this case we swapped it with a fudge packet.

Choosing the Right Packaging

The last step is to choose and design a box that can hold all the items and be mailed to the destination. We normally recommend using a mailer box because it can be used on its own without a shipping carton. These mailers come in  a couple of varieties, one that can be printed in full color all over, and one that is foil stamped. The client went with a simple white mailer box with their logo stamped in shiny blue foil, matching their logo color. Blue tissue papers were incorporated with the items to complete the sleek, and simple mailer.

Pro Tip: always add padding such as packing peanuts and/or tissue paper to secure the items.

Campaign Success

120 mailer kits were assembled and mailed in the Austin area. The client loved how the mailer boxes looked and how color coordinated all the items look together. The recipients were excited to receive the packages and it opened doors to many new connections and conversations. The client was pleased with how smooth and quick the whole process went. We wish them a great year of sales and marketing success!
