This year the Pantone Institute did something that had never been done before in the history of the Pantone Color of the Year Program: they created an entirely new color for this year’s annual color. This blog post will tell you everything you need to know about the Pantone Color System and some promotional items that are inspired by this year’s Pantone Color of the Year, Very Peri.
This year’s color, the dynamic Very Peri, certainly deserves its influential title. Leatrice Eiseman, Pantone Color Institute’s executive director describes the color as “..a novel perspective and vision of the trusted and beloved blue color family, encompassing the qualities of the blues, yet at the same time with its violet red undertone, Very Peri displays a spritely, joyous attitude and dynamic presence that encourages courages creativity and imaginative expressions,” which profoundly describes the qualities of Very Peri.
The Pantone Color System (PMS) is the most widely used color matching system among printers, designers, and manufacturers. It is the de facto standard for classifying, communicating and matching colors with its iconic color swatches in a fan format.
Every single color that can be printed is classified with a unique number. This system makes it easy and convenient for printers and textile, paint, and plastic manufacturers to reference to when they need an accurate color representation.
In the world of promotion products printing, Pantone (PMS) colors are commonly used in order to replicate colors that clients need for their projects. If you need a refresher of the different color systems PMS, CMYK and RGB, be sure to check out this blog post.
The Pantone Color Institute studies color trends from fashion, social media, marketing and advertising all year. The Color of the Year sets the trend for the year, influencing manufacturers, marketing teams, and designers. Many brands design products with the Color of the Year in mind; and marketing teams tweak the current year’s campaign according to the color of the year.
The team at Pantone Color Institute spent countless hours researching color trends for the year so you don’t have to! As a business owner or marketing professional, incorporating the Pantone Color of the Year in merchandise, promotional products, digital ads, and printed collaterals keeps your brand fresh and on trend.
