Case study about promotional product gift sets to help launch a community campaign.
Big picture: Up until the last decade, many of the citizens in the city (and county) of Los Angeles had been resistant to public transport. LA Metro aims to change all that by upping the ‘cool factor’ of the city as it embraces its future.
Project: LA Metro’s community outreach program to give out promotional products gift sets to increase public transport awareness and increase ridership.
Client Brand Identity: Contemporary, aspirational, design-savvy, urban, street smart
Our process: LA Metro’s challenge was selecting the right items for the community and finding the companies that could follow their very strict branding guidelines and procurement procedures. We were a great fit on all levels.
The promotional products gift sets include custom printed sunglasses, lanyards, water bottles, USB flash drives, carabiners, bracelets, all placed in a custom printed drawstring backpack.
First we led LA Metro in discussions about the demographics of their ridership, project timeline and budget, and how the items will be distributed. We presented each item with a virtual logo mockup. In order to get final approvals we produced actual printed pre-production sample of each item. They then had a chance to review the actual product prior to mass production.
We worked with different departments in LA Metro including marketing, procurement and finance. Our experience and understanding of organizational procurement steps and communication protocols enabled us to effectively manage and carry out the project in an efficient manner, within budget and time constraints.
Campaign Success: The promotional products gift sets were given during several community outreach events. The items were a big hit. They were fun, durable and suited the lifestyle of an LA commuter. The client also had a peace of mind because they were able to approve an actual printed item before production.
