Case study about promotional products were used in community outreach marketing programs
Big picture: Los Angeles City Sanitation Department is responsible for the collection and removal of all solid materials and waste in the City of Los Angeles. It is also responsible for waste management program is key to environmental sustainability, climate change efforts, and reducing greenhouse gases. One of the department top priority is to educate the public about proper methods to dispose different wastes and keep LA water clean. They wanted to find a local company to create a community outreach promotional products kit.

Our process: The City of LA Sanitation Department is looking for a partner in promotional products and printed materials for its outreach program. We were thrilled that they chose to work with a certified minority owned, women owned small business. Our first step was to figure out goals of the program and how the department works. Every city, county or state agency has different purchasing workflow, therefore understanding budget, approval process, logistics and fulfillment requirements are essential to the project success.
The client also has specific requests for eco-friendly materials used in each element. With the printed materials we sent over sample paper stocks for the client to review. They ended up selected 2 paper stocks to use for the different printed materials.
For notebooks, seed cards, pens and other promotional products, the client requested to review each product sample before ordering. Due to COVID most of their staff were working remotely, we managed to send several samples of each item directly to their residence so each team member can review the samples on his/her own.
In logistics and fulfillment, due to staffing and space constraints, we coordinated the shipping of the products on specific days via pre-approved carriers. Per warehouse staff we also package the products in medium sized cartons for easier carry.
Campaign Success: The client was appreciative of the efforts we took to fulfill their product and logistic requirements during this period full of COVID related challenges. In the end, all the products were well received and they helped the department to educate and engage the public on how to keep properly dispose various waste and LA waters clean.
